A LONGITUDINAL STUDY OF TRANSFUSION UTILIZATION IN HOSPITALIZED VETERANS

In this study of transfusion trends in 3 VHA hospitals, transfusion rates in surgical patients droped over an 8-year period (2002 to 2010) but remained stable in medical patients, suggesting that further evaluation of blood management practices among medical patients is warranted.
